Abstract: The traditional expert-based instrumental music evaluation strategy can’t meet the requirements of the rapidly accumulated audio data. The traditional strategy not only takes a high cost of human’s energy and time but also may have some problems on consistency and fairness of judgment. This paper aims at designing a complete recognition and evaluation strategy to automatically identify the timber of wind instruments. We take the clarinet as example and propose a strategy based on multi-feature fusion and random forest. First, we use the identification of fundamental frequency algorithm to automatically distinguish the notes performed by the instruments. Second, we extract 3 types of features including MFCC, brightness and roughness to describe the instrumental signals. Then, considering two kinds of variants: note and tone quality, we design 5 strategies to remove the influence of different notes in the evaluation of tone quality. By analyzing these strategies, we explore the optimal strategy for the recognition. The final evaluation results over 840 music slices demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract: Blind signature (BS) plays one of key ingredients in electronic cash or electronic voting system. However, the key exposures bring out very serious problems in insecure mobile devices. Forward-secure blind signatures preserve the validity of past signatures and prevent a forger from forging past signatures even if current secret key has been compromised. In this paper, we propose the first forward-secure identity-based shorter blind signature scheme from lattices which can resist quantum attack, and prove that our scheme satisfies the security requirements of blindness, unforgeability, and forward secrecy in the random oracle model. Furthermore, we also extend our construction to a forward-secure identity-based shorter blind signature in the standard model.

Abstract: Software-defined networking (SDN), on account of its unprecedented capability of network traffic monitoring and data resource transferring, has been deployed into a wide range of application scenarios. However, typical cyber-attacks which prevail in traditional IP networks, have also mutated their implementation models adjusting to SDN environment. Eavesdropping is one of such attacks and causes severe information disclosure to different degree. In this paper, we focus on data plane eavesdropping in SDN and treat it on two levels according to the extent an adversarial sniffer can exploit a SDN switch. Then we introduce Combat-Sniff, a comprehensive countermeasure which includes two methods to deal with the two-level sniffing respectively. And later, we both theoretically and experimentally demonstrate their reliability and performance. Results represent that we can exert Combat-Sniff in SDN to satisfy different security requirements with an acceptable overhead.

Abstract: In Ghana network companies such as Vodafone, Mobile Telecommunication Network, Airtel, Tigo, Expresso and Globacom (GLO) are experiencing increasing subscribers for voice calls, internet and video services. Competition in the industry has been intensified making service providers searching for innovative strategies to survive the competition. Strategies adopted to survive the stiff competition include rebranding, infrastructure sharing and mergers and acquisitions. This study focuses on infrastructure sharing as a strategy to reducing cost for these telecommunication service providers in Ghana. Mobile telecommunication industry in developing countries has players a remarkable role in providing services to large portion of the population. Despite the achievement in reaching large numbers, extra efforts are needed to increase the mobile service penetration. In increasing the penetration, attention needs to be focused on the rural areas. High network infrastructure cost has been the major problem. As operators strive to recoup investment cost associated with building the expensive infrastructure, customers tends to suffer from high network charges/ prices. Infrastructure sharing presents itself as a means of lowering network deployment cost, especially in rural and marginalized areas. Sharing has an advantage to stimulate migration to new technologies and mobile broadband deployment. Arguably, another advantage is the stirring up of competition between mobile operators and service providers, when safeguards are used to prevent anti-competitive behavior.

Abstract: Power line communication (PLC) is applied in various areas, such as Internet access, smart home, automatic meter reading system, security monitoring system, etc. The introduction of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) improves the reliability and efficiency of PLC substantially, and the standards of wide-band PLC and narrow-band PLC are becoming more complete. This paper is based on the receiver designing work according to the transmitter flow described in ITU-T G.9955. Regarding to the up-shift part of transmitter, two different methods to recover the useful information are provided including Hilbert transform and sub-carrier calculation. Both the theoretic analysis and simulation result shows that the two methods can recover the transmitted data exactly, while the second method can decrease the complexity of receiver and improve the efficiency of PLC system greatly.
